Trusting God in Every Season: 6-Day Devotional
Day 1 – God Is With You in Every Season
Scripture: Genesis 39:2 (NLT) – “The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.”
Devotional Thought:
Life changes, but God doesn’t. From the pit to the palace, Joseph’s story reminds us that God’s presence is constant even when our circumstances aren’t. In Genesis 39, Joseph had every reason to feel abandoned—betrayed by family, sold into slavery, and forced into a foreign land. Yet the Bible emphasizes, “The Lord was with Joseph.” That phrase is repeated because the presence of God was the key to Joseph’s stability and success.
When everything feels uncertain, remember this: your success doesn’t depend on your situation but on God’s presence with you in it. You might not see the full picture, but He’s painting something beautiful. You may feel stuck in a season that doesn’t make sense—but just like Joseph, your current condition isn’t your final destination.
Reflection Questions:
How have you seen God’s presence sustain you in a difficult season?
What does it mean to you that God’s presence goes with you wherever you are?
Prayer Prompt:
“Lord, thank You that You are with me in every season. Help me recognize Your presence when I feel forgotten or discouraged. Remind me that You are working even when I can’t see it.”
Action Step:
Write down three specific ways you’ve seen God’s faithfulness in your life. Post them where you’ll see them often this week.
Day 2 – Be Faithful in the Season of Temptation
Scripture: Genesis 39:9 (NLT) – “How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”
Devotional Thought:
Temptation often comes when you least expect it and hits hardest when you’re most vulnerable. Joseph had been faithful in Potiphar’s house, trusted with everything his master owned. But then came temptation — a test not of opportunity, but of integrity. He could’ve given in and no one might’ve known, but Joseph’s heart belonged to God.
His response—“How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”—shows us that faithfulness isn’t about rules; it’s about relationship. The pressure of temptation reveals what we treasure most. Joseph valued God’s approval above worldly pleasure, and that decision preserved his destiny.
Reflection Questions:
What temptations challenge your faithfulness to God right now?
What can you do this week to guard your integrity when no one is watching?
Prayer Prompt:
“God, give me the strength to honor You when temptation comes. Help me treasure Your presence more than temporary pleasure.”
Action Step:
Identify one specific area where you’ve been tempted to compromise. Surrender it to God today and tell a trusted friend or mentor for accountability.
Day 3 – Be Faithful in the Season of Testing
Scripture: Genesis 39:21 (NLT) – “But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him His faithful love.”
Devotional Thought:
The prison was never part of Joseph’s dream—but it was part of God’s plan. Sometimes your test is not about punishment but preparation. While in prison, Joseph didn’t waste time complaining or quitting. Instead, he served faithfully and earned favor even behind bars.
God’s presence in your pain means the process has purpose. The same God who allowed the trial will use it to shape your character for the promise. You might be in a “prison” season right now—overlooked, restricted, waiting for something to change—but the Lord is still with you. And when God is with you, even a prison can become a platform for His power.
Reflection Questions:
How has God used difficult seasons in your life to prepare you for what’s next?
What can you learn about God’s faithfulness through your current test?
Prayer Prompt:
“Father, even when I feel confined or forgotten, I choose to trust that You are working in me. Strengthen my faith to remain steady in this season of testing.”
Action Step:
Encourage someone else who is going through a trial. Send a message or call them to remind them that God is still with them.
Day 4 – Be Faithful in the Season of Transition
Scripture: Genesis 41:16 (NLT) – “It is beyond my power to do this, but God can tell you what it means and set you at ease.”
Devotional Thought:
Joseph’s shift from the prison to the palace happened suddenly—but his promotion didn’t change his posture. When Pharaoh called him to interpret a dream, Joseph didn’t take credit for the gift. He said, “It is beyond my power… but God can.” Even at the height of opportunity, Joseph remained humble and gave glory to God.
Transition seasons test whether we’ll trust God with elevation. Pride can make us forget who brought us this far. Joseph’s story reminds us that when God promotes you, it’s not for self-glory but for kingdom impact. If you stay humble in the transition, God can trust you with transformation.
Reflection Questions:
How do you handle new opportunities or seasons of change?
In what ways can you give God glory for your gifts and achievements?
Prayer Prompt:
“Lord, thank You for every door You’ve opened. Keep me humble, and help me to use every opportunity to point others to You.”
Action Step:
Today, take a moment to publicly thank God—whether through a social post, a journal entry, or a testimony—for something He’s done in your life.
Day 5 – Be Faithful in the Season of Influence
Scripture: Genesis 41:39–40 (NLT) – “Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are. You will be in charge of my court.’”
Devotional Thought:
When God elevated Joseph, it wasn’t just about status—it was about service. God placed Joseph in power to save lives during a famine. Influence isn’t given for comfort but for contribution.
Sometimes we pray for God to bless us but forget that blessings always carry responsibility. Joseph’s faithfulness in leadership preserved entire nations. When God gives you a platform—whether it’s in your job, family, church, or community—He’s inviting you to be a channel of His wisdom and compassion.
Reflection Questions:
Where has God given you influence right now (home, work, ministry, etc.)?
How can you use that influence to serve others and reflect Christ’s heart?
Prayer Prompt:
“God, use my life as a vessel of Your influence. Help me lead, serve, and speak with wisdom and humility so others see You through me.”
Action Step:
Identify one person you can serve this week using your gifts or position—mentor them, help them, or speak encouragement into their life.
Day 6 – Be Faithful Until the Season of Fulfillment
Scripture: Genesis 50:20 (NLT) – “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.”
Devotional Thought:
Looking back, Joseph saw how every season—temptation, testing, transition—was part of God’s plan. What others meant for evil, God turned into elevation. Fulfillment didn’t come overnight, but it came right on time.
When you trust God in every season, He turns pain into purpose and disappointment into destiny. Even the things that broke your heart can become the very things that build your faith. Like Joseph, you’ll be able to say, “It was good that I was afflicted—because I found God in the middle of it.”
Your story may not be fully written yet, but God’s hand is all over the pages. Stay faithful. The same God who brought Joseph to fulfillment will do the same for you.
Reflection Questions:
What past pain can you now see God used for good?
How can your story encourage someone still waiting for their breakthrough?
Prayer Prompt:
“Lord, thank You that You make all things work together for good. I trust Your timing, and I choose to stay faithful until my season of fulfillment.”
Action Step:
Share your testimony—tell someone how God has brought you through a season. Your story could strengthen someone else’s faith.
