Jesus Isn’t Finished With You – 6-Day Devotional
Day 1 – He Still Wants You (Recap & Connection)
Scripture: John 21:15 (NLT)
“Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
Devotional Thought
Peter had failed in one of the worst ways imaginable. He didn’t just make a mistake—he denied Jesus three times. Publicly. Passionately. And now, standing face-to-face with the risen Christ, Peter must have wondered, “Is this the end for me?”
But Jesus doesn’t reject him. He restores him.
Notice what Jesus does. He doesn’t start by rebuking Peter. He starts with a question: “Do you love me?” That question cuts deeper than any accusation. It goes straight to the heart.
That’s where restoration begins—not with perfection, but with love.
Some of us are carrying the weight of failure. Regret. Shame. Things we wish we could undo. And we assume God is done with us.
But this passage reminds us: Jesus still wants you.
He meets you not at your best, but at your most broken. And instead of pushing you away, He pulls you in.
You are not disqualified. You are not discarded. You are not finished.
Reflection Questions
Where do you feel like you’ve failed God?
Do you believe Jesus still wants a relationship with you?
Prayer Prompt
Lord, thank You for not giving up on me. Help me to receive Your grace and respond with genuine love.
Action Step
Spend 5 minutes today simply telling Jesus you love Him—no requests, just relationship.
Day 2 – Restoration Is Personal (Biblical Depth)
Scripture: John 21:17 (NLT)
“A third time he asked him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’”
Devotional Thought
Jesus asked Peter the same question three times. That wasn’t random—it was intentional.
Peter denied Jesus three times. Now Jesus gives him three opportunities to reaffirm his love.
This is not humiliation. This is healing.
Jesus doesn’t ignore Peter’s failure. He addresses it directly—but gently. He restores Peter in the same place he fell.
That’s how Jesus works. His restoration is not generic—it’s personal.
He knows exactly where you’ve been hurt. Exactly where you’ve fallen. Exactly where the guilt lives. And He meets you right there.
We often want to move on quickly, skip over the pain, pretend everything is fine. But Jesus takes His time with Peter. He walks him through the process.
Because real restoration isn’t rushed—it’s intentional.
Reflection Questions
Are you avoiding dealing with something God wants to heal?
Where might Jesus be inviting you into deeper restoration?
Prayer Prompt
Jesus, help me not to run from the areas where I need healing. Meet me there and restore me fully.
Action Step
Journal about a past failure and invite God into that moment—be honest and open.
Day 3 – Love Leads to Responsibility (Heart Reflection)
Scripture: John 21:16 (NLT)
“Then take care of my sheep.”
Devotional Thought
Every time Peter says “Yes, Lord, I love you,” Jesus responds with an assignment.
“Feed my lambs.”
“Take care of my sheep.”
“Feed my sheep.”
This is powerful.
Jesus doesn’t just restore Peter emotionally—He restores him purposefully.
Love for Jesus is not just something we feel—it’s something we live out.
Sometimes we think restoration means we just get back to where we were. But Jesus doesn’t just restore Peter—He recommissions him.
That means your failure didn’t cancel your purpose.
In fact, God often uses the very area where you fell as the place where you now serve.
Your testimony becomes your ministry.
Reflection Questions
How is your love for Jesus showing up in your actions?
What responsibility might God be calling you back to?
Prayer Prompt
Lord, help me to live out my love for You through obedience and service.
Action Step
Do one intentional act of service today for someone else.
Day 4 – Follow, Don’t Compare (Personal Application)
Scripture: John 21:22 (NLT)
“‘What is that to you? As for you, follow me.’”
Devotional Thought
Right after being restored, Peter looks at another disciple and asks, “What about him?”
Isn’t that just like us?
We compare:
Our journey
Our calling
Our timeline
Our struggles
Jesus shuts it down immediately:
“What is that to you? You follow me.”
Comparison is one of the fastest ways to lose focus.
God has a specific path for your life. When you compare, you either feel pride or insecurity—but neither leads to obedience.
Peter had just been given a fresh start… and almost missed it by looking sideways.
Don’t let comparison rob you of your calling.
Reflection Questions
Where are you comparing yourself to others?
How is that affecting your obedience to God?
Prayer Prompt
God, help me to stay focused on the path You have for me and not be distracted by others.
Action Step
Limit social media or anything that triggers comparison today. Refocus on your walk with God.
Day 5 – Your Story Isn’t Over (Community Focus)
Scripture: John 21:24 (NLT)
“This disciple is the one who testifies to these events…”
Devotional Thought
John ends this chapter by reminding us that this story is true.
Peter’s restoration is not just a moment—it’s a message.
Because Peter’s story didn’t end in failure. It ended in faithfulness.
And that gives us hope.
There are people around you who need to know that God restores. That failure isn’t final. That grace is real.
Your story matters—not just for you, but for others.
God doesn’t just restore you for your sake. He restores you so you can help restore others.
Reflection Questions
Who in your life needs to hear your story?
How can your testimony help someone else?
Prayer Prompt
Lord, use my story to encourage someone else who feels like giving up.
Action Step
Share your testimony or a piece of your journey with one person this week.
Day 6 – Take the Next Step (Faith in Action)
Scripture: John 21:19 (NLT)
“Then Jesus told him, ‘Follow me.’”
Devotional Thought
After everything—after the failure, after the restoration, after the assignment—Jesus gives Peter one simple command:
“Follow me.”
Not “figure everything out.”
Not “be perfect.”
Not “never mess up again.”
Just follow.
That’s the call for you too.
You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t need to fix everything overnight. You just need to take the next step.
Following Jesus is a daily decision.
And every step you take proves this truth:
Jesus isn’t finished with you yet.
Reflection Questions
What is your next step in following Jesus?
What’s holding you back from taking it?
Prayer Prompt
Jesus, give me the courage to take my next step and follow You fully.
Action Step
Identify one clear next step (prayer, serving, joining a group, repentance) and act on it today.
